Sr. Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical hands-on role in the design, implementation, optimization, and support of the organization's global network infrastructure. This includes Fortinet Security Fabric solutions, Azure hybrid connectivity, and ensuring high availability, security, and compliance across multi-site operations (US, UK, and Mexico). The ideal candidate is a technical leader who excels in execution, troubleshooting, automation, and mentoring while contributing to network projects and operational excellence. This opportunity is an onsite role located in Scottsdale, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient, FortiMail, FortiEMS, FortiSIEM, and related components.
• Implement and optimize hybrid cloud networking solutions (Azure VNet, ExpressRoute, VPNs, SD-WAN) integrated with on-premises environments.
• Lead and execute network-related projects, including site expansions, migrations, upgrades, and security enhancements with minimal business disruption.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and conduct root-cause analysis using tools such as FortiAnalyzer, Azure Monitor, and SIEM platforms.
• Ensure network compliance with standards including PCI DSS 4.1, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements through segmentation, controls, and auditing.
• Automate network operations and configurations using scripting (PowerShell, Python), Terraform, Ansible, or Fortinet APIs to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Collaborate with security, applications, infrastructure, and business teams on initiatives such as zero-trust architecture, endpoint management (Intune), and incident response.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational runbooks.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to junior team members and cross-functional IT staff.
• Occasional travel for site support or project deployments.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive network engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior role within enterprise or multi-site global environments.
• Experience in regulated industries (PCI, SOC 2, etc.) is strongly preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency with Fortinet Security Fabric technologies (FortiGate and associated products) — NSE certifications highly desired.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking services and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Deep knowledge of routing/switching (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, QoS), firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and SD-WAN.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform), scripting, and automation.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Azure Network Engineer, or equivalent are preferred.
• Ability to work fully on-site in Scottsdale, AZ.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other company locations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Must successfully complete and clear the company's comprehensive background screening process as a condition of employment.
