Ascend Technologies is seeking an Office 365/Azure Engineer to provide escalated support and operational maintenance for client cloud environments, including Microsoft Services across Azure and Office 365.
About the role
This position supports clients through escalated technical issues, operational maintenance, and project-based initiatives such as infrastructure upgrades and new technology deployments.
Responsibilities
- Analyze client requests to identify underlying problems and recommend proper solutions.
- Administer O365 and support Microsoft email platforms, including Exchange Server in hybrid configurations.
- Manage Microsoft Volume Licenses, Enterprise Agreements (EA), and Reservations.
- Baseline and configure OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, Conditional Access controls, and MFA.
- Demonstrate operational expertise in Intune and other MDM solutions.
- Troubleshoot SQL Database and SQL reporting.
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure.
- Implement and manage virtual servers (Hyper-V/VMware).
- Perform server administration tasks, including drive expansion and root cause analysis.
- Administer Azure AD/Entra ID.
- Support applications and functions in Azure Cloud.
- Monitor emerging cloud technologies and identify new products with potential benefits for Ascend clients.
- Participate in the design, implementation, and administration of cloud-based platform solutions alongside architects and other teams.
- Partner with Information Security/Cybersecurity to ensure infrastructure solutions comply with cloud security standards.
- Serve as an escalation point for the Ascend Technologies Network Operations Center (NOC) and support engineers.
- Create and maintain documentation of client environments and Ascend Technologies best practices.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field preferred (Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent).
- 8+ years of professional IT experience in a client-facing role, plus 5+ years supporting O365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure.
- Ability to work independently on application and technical tasks with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
- Strong communication skills to assist non-technical users remotely.
- Proven decision-making ability when multiple alternatives are presented.
- Leadership in major incident escalation and resolution efforts.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Microsoft certifications (MCSE, AZ-104 at minimum; AZ-500 preferred).
- Advanced PowerShell scripting experience.

Pay
$90,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
