Sr. Medical Science Liaison - Immunology (Dermatology) - Boston, MA

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is recruiting for a Senior Medical Science Liaison – Immunology (Dermatology) based in the Boston Metro territory.

About the Role

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is considered the field-based scientific and clinical expert on current and future Johnson & Johnson Innovative products. He/she serves as a strategic scientific partner integrating multiple internal and external data sources to inform medical engagement, patient care, and territory strategy. The Senior MSL is responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with key thought leaders and healthcare provider teams, providing fair, balanced, objective, non-promotional scientific information and education to healthcare professionals and internal partners through meaningful, evidence-based scientific exchange.

The Senior MSL stays abreast of the current scientific and treatment landscape trends in relevant therapeutic areas by critically evaluating emerging data and providing appropriate scientific support for investigator-initiated studies, including facilitating scientific exchange and connecting investigators with internal research and grant processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan for the territory that aligns with Medical Affairs strategy, prioritized medical objectives, and approved core medical assets.
• Engage in high-quality, two-way scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs to serve as a resource, understand their perspectives, and identify trends, unmet needs, and educational gaps.
• Identify and cultivate strong professional relationships with community and academic HCPs/KOLs to advance scientific credibility.
• Utilize insights and MSL tools to develop a strategic approach for customer engagements and proactively uncover gaps, risks, and opportunities.
• Leverage AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and improve efficiency.
• Identify provider educational needs and address them with tailored, scientifically balanced responses.
• Deliver relevant scientific data tailored to HCP needs through clear dialogue and presentations that translate complex clinical evidence into meaningful discussions.
• Collect and submit high-quality, actionable insights aligned with organizational strategic priorities.
• Provide point-of-contact support to investigators and internal partners for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
• Respond to unsolicited research/clinical inquiries from external stakeholders with scientifically sound, objective, and compliant information.
• Execute Medical Affairs strategy and MSL priorities while balancing short-term and long-term objectives.
• Compliantly collaborate with internal stakeholders, including MSL field partners, R&D, Medical Affairs, clinical operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrate strong scientific acumen through self-study, journal clubs, educational seminars, and scientific discussions with peers.
• Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, supporting collaborative One J&J goals at local and national levels.
• Develop a thorough understanding of regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines, corporate policies, and Medical Affairs SOPs.
• Develop and implement a performance and development plan in collaboration with a direct manager, including leadership projects.
• Perform all administrative requirements (e.g., expense reports, documentation of activities) in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate-level degree or equivalent experience is required (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers, etc.); postgraduate experience is required for doctoral-level candidates, with preference for therapeutic clinical experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success as an MSL.
• Strong scientific/therapeutic expertise with skills in research, data analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to support a defined territory with up to 70% travel, including in-territory visits and attendance at internal meetings, external congresses, and related events.
• Must hold a valid US Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Residency/fellowship preferred.
• Knowledge or experience in the therapeutic area.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot, and remote technologies.
• Related clinical, research, or pharma work experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI.

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000.00 - $235,750.00.

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
