Sr. Medical Science Liaison - Immunology (Dermatology) - Boston, MA

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is recruiting for a Senior Medical Science Liaison – Immunology (Dermatology) based in the Boston Metro territory.

About the Role

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is considered the field-based scientific and clinical expert on current and future Johnson & Johnson Innovative products. He/she serves as a strategic scientific partner integrating multiple internal and external data sources to inform medical engagement, patient care, and territory strategy.

The Senior MSL is responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with key thought leaders and healthcare provider teams, providing fair, balanced, objective, non-promotional scientific information, and education to healthcare professionals and internal partners through meaningful, evidence-based scientific exchange as required by scientific and business needs.

The Senior MSL stays abreast of the current scientific and treatment landscape trends in relevant therapeutic areas by critically evaluating emerging data and providing appropriate scientific support for investigator-initiated studies, including facilitating scientific exchange and connecting investigators with internal research and grant processes, in accordance with applicable policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan for the territory that aligns with Medical Affairs strategy, prioritized medical objectives, and approved core medical assets.
• Engage in high-quality, two-way scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs that respectfully challenges current thinking, serves as a resource, and identifies trends, unmet needs, and educational gaps.
• Identify and cultivate strong professional relationships with community and academic HCPs/KOLs to advance scientific credibility.
• Utilize insights and MSL tools to develop a strategic approach for customer engagements and proactively uncover gaps, risks, and opportunities.
• Leverage AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and improve efficiency.
• Identify provider educational needs and address them with tailored, scientifically balanced responses.
• Deliver relevant scientific data through clear dialogue and presentations, adapting communication style to stakeholder context.
• Collect and submit high-quality actionable insights aligned with organizational strategic priorities.
• Provide support to investigators and internal partners for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
• Respond to unsolicited research/clinical inquiries promptly with compliant, objective information.
• Execute Medical Affairs strategy while balancing short-term and long-term objectives.
• Compliantly collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, Medical Affairs, clinical operations, and others.
• Demonstrate strong scientific acumen through self-study, journal clubs, seminars, and peer discussions.
• Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, supporting collaborative One J&J goals.
• Develop competence in regulatory, compliance guidelines, corporate policies, and Medical Affairs SOPs.
• Develop and implement a performance and development plan in collaboration with a direct manager.
• Perform administrative tasks (e.g., expense reports, activity documentation) in a timely and compliant manner.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate-level degree or equivalent experience is required (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers, etc.). Postgraduate experience is required, with preference for therapeutic clinical experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success as an MSL.
• Strong scientific/therapeutic expertise with skills in research, data analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
• Ability to support a defined territory with up to 70% travel, including in-territory visits and attendance at internal/external meetings and congresses.
• Must hold a valid US Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Residency/fellowship preferred.
• Knowledge or experience in the therapeutic area.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot, and remote technologies.
• Related clinical, research, or pharma work experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI.

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000.00 - $235,750.00.
