Job Description

Function:

  • Work within assigned stations and maintain location and accuracy of quantity within the Work-In-Process (WIP) inventory for an assigned Kit Consolidation Area (KCA), both physically and on the computerized work order tracking system.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining the WIP accuracy of an assigned manufacturing KCA.
  • Use bar code reader and computer terminal to perform log-in transactions identifying both location and quantity.
  • Place material in designated racks, bins, or floor locations.
  • Log jobs released to manufacturing to the “in-work” location or to the next specified location if outside of assigned KCA.
  • Provide work to manufacturing in priority sequence and print a daily dispatch list in priority and schedule sequence.
  • Continuously audit work order information involving location and other appropriate impact information and quantity accuracy by the performance of cycle-counting procedures.
  • Assure parts are delivered to appropriate areas, test labs and workstations in a timely manner to maintain steady workflow.
  • Retrive parts and return carts to from Receiving as required.
  • Verify the next operation and work center on the operation sheet to reflect where the work will be performed.
  • Contact Manufacturing Engineering for routing corrections.
  • Maintain close contact with assigned area manufacturing supervision and personnel or Purchasing, Material Control, Manufacturing, Product Support and Engineering Departments.
  • Requisition and stage tools for jobs given to manufacturing.
  • Keep current with Impact shop practices by attending meetings.
  • Locate and rectify lost parts and process associated paperwork.
  • Update “PRIORITY LISTS” and provide required information, i.e., commit dates to area manufacturing supervision at status/shortage meetings.
  • As required, wrap, and protect parts.
  • Create move tickets for parts moved to operation/work center.
  • Create center rework (W/Y) work orders and appropriate paperwork in support of discrepancy reports.
  • Perform shop floor work order transfer transactions whenever component parts are moved from kit to kit.
  • As required replace work order routing travelers, to comply with changes in manufacturing operations made via the automated Change Notice (ACN) system.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices to maintain cleanliness of assigned area and kit carts.
  • As directed, perform other similar or related duties.
  • Perform operator checklist as required.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
  • Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
  • Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Refer only unusual conditions to Working Leader or supervisor.
