About the role
This position is based out of our Grand Island, NY site within BioProduction Group.
Responsibilities
- Use equipment that includes mixers, mills, blenders, pumps, filtration systems, packaging, and laboratory equipment.
- Weigh, measure, and check raw materials with the assistance of a computer interface to assure batches manufactured contain accurate materials and quantities.
- Calibrate and operate manual, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Identify and conduct equipment troubleshooting for common failure modes.
- Follow all safe practices, policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions in controlled environments up to and including classified clean rooms.
- Participate in Safety, Quality, and Productivity discussions.
- Assist in the ownership and actions tasks for projects.
- Solve problems applying departmental knowledge.
- Complete and maintain compliance with the Quality Management Systems and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for documentation and practices within department.
- Complete a variety of complex and difficult tasks related to manufacturing of cell culture media.
- Perform related duties as required to meet the business goals and requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Formal training in Lean, 5S, or manufacturing processes is strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice environment is required.
Skills
- General understanding of technical, mechanical, and machinery equipment is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail for complex instructions and documentation while maintaining quality output.
- Demonstrated proficiency in completing and training others in multiple processes in a fast-paced work environment.
- Work with support groups for assistance to complete different project initiatives.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and move up to 50 pounds and may be required to stand for extended periods of time while performing duties.
- Ability to squat, bend, and reach different items to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including work uniform, steel toe shoes, hair net, beard guard (when required), safety glasses, and gloves. PPE may also include a bump cap, face shield, and full/half-face respirators.
- Availability to work overtime and flexible shift patterns.
Work environment
- Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
- Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed.
- Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.).
- Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.).
- Will work with hazardous/toxic materials.
Pay
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $20.93–$34.88. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
