About the Role

The Sr Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with manufacturing, design engineering, quality, and customer service teams to develop manufacturing methods and sequences for complex machined parts and assemblies. This role provides manufacturability input, supports Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and drives continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare complete processes and routes for manufactured parts to meet organizational goals for scrap reduction and lead time improvement.
  • Evaluate processes through analysis, supplier collaboration, and feedback from machine operators/production technicians.
  • Design and implement fixtures and gages for manufactured parts.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment, statistical process control) and recommend design, tolerance, or processing changes.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects, set-up reduction, TPM, and 5S initiatives supporting Lean Manufacturing.
  • Assess product designs for manufacturability.
  • Participate in the evaluation, procurement, and start-up of new capital equipment.
  • Develop and manage multiple project plans and schedules within timing and cost constraints.
  • Interpret drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and part drawings.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, industry networks, and benchmarking.
  • Provide leadership, act as a prime contact for high-level projects, establish goals, and mentor less experienced employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with ERP business systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Edge). 3D modeling experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in solving practical problems with limited standardization and interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts (e.g., probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry) to practical situations.
  • Strong skills in reading and interpreting part drawings, assembly drawings, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences and speak effectively before groups.
  • Experience in machining and high-mix, low-volume production is a plus.
