About the Role
Provides technical oversight for DoD ammunition production programs through production support, continuous improvement, and resolution of technical issues to ensure compliant, on-schedule delivery while maintaining safety and meeting all contractual requirements. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing procedures, equipment, and tools, as well as researching automation techniques and optimizing factory layouts for efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Determines parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange equipment, material purchases, and parts.
- Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.
- Additional responsibilities include machine programming, lean manufacturing, FMEA/Control Plan, RCRA, and GD&T.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Engineering (required).
- 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Design expertise and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Technology.
- CNC Lathe/milling experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software (ProE/SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- May require working inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel Requirements
Up to 25% travel likely.
