Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Technical Service and Application Development teams to effectively execute development projects and customer support activities.
- Develop and manage the technical roadmap to advance our materials and processing for targeted market segments such as Aerospace and Defense.
- Manage technical service activities supporting the full Metallus product offering, including technical service representation, claim assessment and management, and interpretation of customer specifications, processing requirements, and industry standards.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert in customer interactions, ensuring commitments are met while avoiding unjustified technical or commercial risk.
- Oversee customer quality issues to mitigate company risk and secure timely, favorable resolutions.
- Partner with the Application Lab and Metallurgy teams to prioritize investigations, lead failure analysis, and leverage data-driven insights to resolve customer issues.
- Manage a highly technical team of metallurgists and engineers to deliver process and product solutions related to metallurgy, surface finish, machinability, forging, forming, and other critical product and process characteristics.
- Lead cross-functional teams (Met QA, Manufacturing/Steel Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Legal, and Technology) to eliminate repeat quality issues and implement sustainable improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement and application development efforts that enable new business opportunities and support growth objectives in partnership with Sales and Commercial teams.
- Train and develop the technical service organization on Metallus capabilities, processing practices, terms, and policies to proactively address customer issues and identify growth opportunities.
- Build organizational capability by developing technical talent, optimizing team performance, and maintaining a strong pipeline of future leaders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related degree with at least 13 years of business, engineering, or marketing experience.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related degree with at least 10 years of business, engineering, or marketing, or Aerospace & Defense and Energy.
