Sr Manager - Strategic Sourcing

About the role
The Sr Manager – Strategic Sourcing develops and executes sourcing strategies for Fiber Glass Roving, Resins, Plastics, and Thermoforming categories, aligning with business objectives. This role manages commercial relationships with key strategic suppliers, employs category and contract strategies to control risk and minimize costs, and leads cross-functional teams to meet operational, commercial, and technical requirements. The position also provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a team while driving collective business goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing and supply management strategies to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, minimize risk, and drive innovation.
- Develop, negotiate, and manage Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) with key suppliers to optimize supply and total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Transform and optimize the supply base using strategic sourcing tools and processes.
- Lead cross-functional category and supplier team meetings to execute sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and productivity projects.
- Coach and mentor team members to build organizational category expertise.
- Build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and present cost models to understand cost drivers and negotiate best-in-class pricing.
- Monitor market trends and maintain subject matter expertise in assigned categories.
- Establish and communicate supplier performance expectations, monitor compliance, and drive improvements.
- Ensure continuity of supply by proactively managing critical supply issues and securing supplier capacity.
- Provide expertise to the Risk Management Team for hedging, inflation forecasting, costing, and pricing activities.
- Conduct supplier facility audits to verify capabilities and build relationships.
- Introduce new suppliers, products, processes, and technologies to Design and Engineering for competitive advantage.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, labor reduction, warranty reduction, working capital reduction, and value analysis/engineering.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree preferred.
- Preferred certifications: CPM, CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt).
- 10+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5+ years in direct materials.
- 3+ years of project/program management experience in supply chain, procurement, product development, or manufacturing, with knowledge of sourcing, materials management, and logistics.
- Subject matter expertise in two or more of the following categories: Fiber Glass, Plastics, Resin, and Composites.
- Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) a plus.
Pay
Salary range: $126,800 – $174,350. The pay range listed is for Illinois-based roles. Compensation may vary based on factors such as skill sets, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training, and location.
