About the role

The leader has operational accountability and oversight and manages the daily activities of Patient Access Front End operations. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior while ensuring teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Operational accountability and oversight of Patient Access Front End operations.
  • Ensuring teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals.
  • Overseeing multiple departments within Patient Access, including Emergency Department, Outpatient Services, Cardiac Cath, Surgery, and related areas.
  • Preference given to candidates with affiliations or certifications through HFMA and/or NAHAM.
  • Strong EPIC experience, specifically with EPIC Prelude, Cadance, and MyChart.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in business or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM).
  • Seven (7) years of experience in Registration, billing, insurance verification/authorization, patient scheduling, or patient financial assistance, plus five (5) years of prior management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of experience with computers using information systems including scheduling, registration, medical necessity, insurance eligibility/benefits, and other software and application used in the Revenue Cycle division.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of International Classification Determination Tenth Revision (ICD-10) coding and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare Nation Coverage Determination (NCD) and Local Coverage Determination (LCD) protocols for medical necessity/Advanced Beneficiary Notice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance rules and regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Commercial Insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and consistently follow through to solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork, and cost center based management.
