Sr. Manager, IT Systems Engineer
About the Role
The Sr. Manager, IT Systems Engineering leads the team responsible for designing, securing, automating, and operating XiFin’s enterprise infrastructure supporting healthcare SaaS platforms. This role combines technical expertise with people leadership across Linux systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, automation, container platforms, and infrastructure operations. You will establish the infrastructure roadmap, build a high-performing engineering team, and partner with Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product Development, and IT leadership to deliver scalable and reliable platforms.
The ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure leader who remains technically engaged and is passionate about automation, modernization, and building resilient infrastructure across on-premise datacenters and cloud environments including Microsoft Azure and AWS. This position is located at our offices in San Diego, CA and is not eligible for employment sponsorship. Applicants must have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for the IT Systems Engineering organization by establishing the technology roadmap supporting XiFin's business objectives and SaaS platform growth.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and professional development of a high-performing Systems Engineering team; establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and career development plans while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product Development, and IT leadership to prioritize initiatives, align infrastructure investments, and ensure technology decisions support business and customer needs.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices across the organization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending investments that improve scalability, reliability, security, operational efficiency, and long-term platform sustainability.
- Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and major incidents.
- Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture
- Lead the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management of Linux-based infrastructure supporting XiFin’s SaaS platforms.
- Oversee secure, scalable infrastructure solutions across physical datacenters and cloud environments including Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Ansible, Terraform, Git, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, and AKS.
- Ensure infrastructure aligns with enterprise security standards including NIST, HITRUST, and CIS Benchmarks.
- Establish architecture standards and technical governance across infrastructure platforms.
- Operational Excellence & Reliability
- Own the availability, reliability, and operational maturity of XiFin’s infrastructure environment.
- Establish monitoring, operational metrics, and processes to improve system performance and proactively identify risks.
- Oversee infrastructure documentation, policies, disaster recovery, backup strategies, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
- Lead major incident response efforts, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to improve platform resiliency.
- Drive modernization initiatives focused on automation, standardization, technical debt reduction, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications
You don’t need to check every box. We will consider a combination of education and experience, including:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Linux Systems Engineering supporting enterprise production environments.
- 5+ years leading infrastructure or systems engineering teams.
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing technical teams.
- Expert knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience managing enterprise infrastructure across on-premise datacenters and cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Terraform, Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies including web servers, databases, virtualization, storage, networking, and security platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Linux security, networking, firewalls, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience leading major incident response, infrastructure recovery, and modernization initiatives.
- Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call leadership rotation.
- Ability to travel 10–15% to remote company locations and datacenters.

Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role is $140,000 - $186,000. Depending on qualifications, you may be considered for either a Sr. Manager or Manager role. Final compensation will be determined during the selection process and may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
