About the role
Under general direction, responsible for planning and engineering Parkland's systems infrastructure. Located at 8435 Stemmons Bldg.
Responsibilities
- Protecting the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information assets on premise and in cloud environments.
- Installing, configuring and maintaining firmware updates, operating system security patches and vulnerability remediation, in support of business requirements.
- Conducting complex hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Implementing operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
- Ensuring long term requirements of system operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of Parkland.
- Developing, executing and tracking the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
- Generating, analyzing and reporting on existing vulnerabilities and recommending mitigations.
- Serving as a resource for systems engineering team employees, ensuring they have access to up to date information regarding best practices and security standards for the organization.
- Ensuring a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation is maintained.
- Identifying ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
- Making recommendations to supervisor, implementing, and monitoring results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
- Staying abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Systems Engineering by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations.
- Maintaining knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact IT systems at Parkland.
- Developing effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
- Five years of experience working with IT systems infrastructure, to include experience working in one or more of the following technologies: Active Directory, DNS, networking, DHCP, WINS, SharePoint, VMware, Workspace ONE, VMware MDT, Azure, AWS, Exchange, Windows Server, Apache, UNIX, Oracle, SQL and SMS/SCCM.
- Experience in scripting.
- Experience in one of the following or similar database management systems: Oracle, MySQL Server and Postgres.
Qualifications
Equivalent Education and/or Experience: May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.
Skills
- Solid understanding of CVE, CVSS and vulnerability scanning and reporting tools.
- Ability to develop system specifications and decision flows, in the form of flow charts or equivalent techniques, from written business requirements.
- Ability to develop system configuration/modifications from detailed specifications.
- Ability to develop detailed operational documentation based on both existing and newly configured systems.
- Ability to demonstrate a solid (everyday use) working knowledge of computer products depending upon the technical environment of the position.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with peers and senior personnel.
- Critical thinking skills, with regard to system issues.
- Ability to accept verbal and/or written problems or direction from senior staff and business users and demonstrate an ability to prepare specifications that reflect provided information.
- Knowledge of products such as word processing, spreadsheets and management of database tables in a PC environment.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
Prefer certification as a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or possess a similar industry recognized certification. Prefer CompTIA Security + Certified, or possess a similar industry recognized certification.
