About the role

The Financial and Regulatory Reporting Team within Schwab Asset Management (SAM) oversees various functions related to proprietary mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and bank collective trust funds. Key responsibilities include oversight of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual shareholder reports and financial statements, as well as regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and authorization of funds filings including SEC Forms N-CSR (shareholder report and holdings and financial statements), N-CSR iXBRL, N-1A support, 24f-2, and 17f-2
  • Supporting other regulatory filings, including SEC Form N-MFP, N-PORT, and N-CEN
  • Supporting and automating reviews of semiannual and annual shareholder reports and holdings and financial statements and quarterly holdings for N-PORT Part F
  • Strategic oversight of third-party fund administrators' preparation of regulatory filings and subsequent performance assessment
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to coordinate and balance schedules for filings and reviews
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and interacting with external and internal partners
  • Partnership with all functional areas of SAM to provide expertise on regulatory and financial reporting standards
  • Staying informed about regulatory changes and implementing them on a go-forward basis
  • Communicating and presenting to senior management in SAM on financial and regulatory standards and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (BS in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred)
  • Minimum 6 years of direct experience administering mutual funds, including financial reporting, fund accounting, and/or operational experience
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory filings and financial reporting requirements for mutual funds and ETFs, including oversight and authorization of fund filings such as SEC Forms N-CSR (including iXBRL), N-1A support, 24f-2, and 17f-2, as well as experience supporting additional filings such as SEC Forms N-PORT and N-MFP
  • Organizer, detail-oriented, and ability to maintain deadlines
  • Demonstrated drive to improve and promote quality, accuracy, and appropriate levels of due diligence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial reporting experience with interval funds, investments in private markets, private 3c-7 liquidity funds, tokenized funds, and crypto ETPs
  • Drive and skillset to identify areas of opportunity and implement effective change and automation
  • Proactive support of business partners and overall company goals through collaboration and effective networking
  • Prominent verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with all levels in the SAM Fund Administration teams and with other external/internal partners
