Sr. Manager, Energy Program Management

The Sport & Games Delivery Group aims to deliver the most seamless, innovative, and engaging Games experience ever for all athletes, fans, partners, and the community. The Venue Infrastructure Team is responsible for delivering the competition and non-competition venues fit-for-purpose for the preparation and staging of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This department manages the design, development, program management, construction, maintenance, and removal of all Games infrastructure in existing and fully temporary venues. The Energy Team ensures the end-to-end delivery of power to all Games venues and facilities, coordinating with internal teams, external utility providers, government organizations, venue owners, and temporary power providers.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of the Energy Program Management Office, the Sr. Manager, Energy Program Management will oversee a team of 5+ project managers driving electrical design and delivery at a grouping of Games venues. This role involves strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and operational readiness to ensure successful power delivery across all Games operational sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5+ project managers, conducting weekly check-ins, ensuring consistency, and fostering team growth.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of team members.
• Manage the design and delivery of electrical equipment across a group of venues through design, installation, and operations.
• Plan, schedule, and lead cross-functional meetings with internal and external engineering, design, and power delivery teams.
• Develop and implement detailed venue construction schedules, overseeing timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to align project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
• Monitor venue development, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage change orders, documentation, and reporting for leadership and stakeholders.
• Track and update risk, actions, decisions, issues, and opportunities across the program and venues.
• Take and distribute meeting minutes, tracking action items.
• Create and update dashboards and tools for disseminating information.
• Follow up with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for design review progress in construction and permitting.
• Ensure oversight and management of the Energy program, including internal reporting of key objectives and success metrics.
• Support cost and delivery impact assessments as design development evolves.
• Track progress of Utility Service Provider capital improvement projects impacting power generation.
• Develop and execute an approval and review process for Energy technical requirements.
• Establish close working relationships with key functional areas (Venue Infrastructure, Technology, Broadcast, etc.) to align infrastructure planning and scheduling.
• Coordinate with the Venue Development sub-function to ensure aligned planning for venue design and delivery milestones.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in construction or energy project management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Project Management, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Relevant certifications (PMP, IPMA, CEM) strongly preferred.
• Experience managing direct reports.
• Experience delivering complex electrical projects through planning, design, and implementation.
• Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
• Proven success building excellent working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong experience with Smartsheet, Power BI/Tableau, or other project management tools.
• Experience working with senior executives across multiple functional areas.

Working Conditions

• Full-time position located in the LA28 office in Los Angeles, California, with in-person attendance required.
• Majority of work conducted in an office setting, requiring extended use of computers, phones, and office equipment.
• Occasional travel to venues across the Los Angeles region and possibly outside Greater Los Angeles.
• Extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be necessary during operational periods.
• Travel to external stakeholder offices, government agencies, and Games venues as needed.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000. The pay scale provided is the range LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation, subject to final determination based on candidate qualifications, experience, and operational business needs.
