About the role

Bloom Energy is seeking a Senior Manager, EHS to lead safety culture transformation while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational integration across a rapidly expanding manufacturing footprint. This role, based in Newark, DE and reporting to the Director, EHS, will independently own site EHS performance, lead complex incident investigations, and partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, and Supply Chain to embed EHS into daily operations and future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site-wide safety strategy with a focus on culture change, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Develop and implement programs such as Safety Observations and behavior-based safety initiatives.
  • Establish clear expectations for safety ownership across all levels of the organization and hold leaders and teams accountable for safety performance and corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for safety concerns and risk mitigation decisions.
  • Lead high-quality incident investigations using structured root cause analysis methodologies, including:
    • Incident investigations (recordable and serious injury/fatality potential events).
    • Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
    • Application or implementation of TapRooT to drive consistency and depth.
  • Develop and ensure execution of effective, sustainable corrective actions and build a site-wide corrective action tracking and verification process.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, and Facilities to proactively identify and mitigate risks, including:
    • Supporting design, installation, and ramp-up of new manufacturing lines (e.g., solvent-based IC cell printing).
    • Integrating EHS requirements into equipment design, process development, and operational workflows.
    • Ensuring strong implementation of core safety programs (e.g., LOTO, machine guarding, hazard communication, PPE).
  • Own regulatory compliance and direct interaction with agencies, including management of environmental programs such as:
    • Hazardous waste management (RCRA).
    • Stormwater permitting or No Exposure Certification.
    • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC).
    • Tier II reporting.
  • Serve as the site lead for inspections, audits, and regulatory correspondence, ensuring compliance obligations are integrated into operational processes and expansion planning.
  • Maintain and improve EHS programs aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 principles, driving continuous improvement through metrics, audits, and corrective action systems.
  • Act as the key EHS partner to Manufacturing Ops, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, and Supply Chain, leading cross-functional teams to resolve safety and environmental challenges.
  • Influence business decisions to ensure EHS considerations are embedded early in planning and execution while balancing operational demands with compliance and risk management priorities.
  • Use Excel or other programs to record data and compile it into statistical analyses and reports.
  • Assist in maintaining, updating, and coordinating EHS training programs, including providing training for OSHA regulatory topics (e.g., Electrical Safety, LOTO, Forklift, Hazard Communication).
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and attend relevant workshops, training, and seminars.
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform additional functions incidental to health and safety activities (e.g., air and noise industrial hygiene monitoring).

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental Health Sciences, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related Engineering field.
  • 8 to 10+ years of experience in Environmental Safety & Health, preferably within a manufacturing and/or energy organization.
  • Understanding of DOT, EPA, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, hazardous waste, and hazardous materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise between company departments.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office software.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Incident investigation and root cause analysis (TapRoot preferred).
    • ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
    • Strong influencing skills; ability to drive accountability without direct authority.
    • High level of ownership and comfort engaging with regulatory agencies.

Pay

Salary range: $120,600.00 - $173,400.00. The total compensation for this full-time role includes standard company benefits and is based on relevant skills and experience.
