About the role

The Sr Manager, Digital Product Management, Embedded Systems will lead the development of edge-device and connectivity capabilities for Carrier's refrigeration solutions. Reporting to the Global Product Leader for Edge Devices & Connectivity, this role involves working closely with engineering, segment GMs, sales, commercial leadership, service, and the PMO across CST business units.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business cases for embedded systems, edge devices, and connected product capabilities from investment rationale through post-launch revenue, margin, lifecycle value, and adoption performance.

  • Help define the multi-year roadmap for embedded control architecture modernization, including platform consolidation, modular software standards, lifecycle rationalization, backward compatibility, and end-of-life migration planning.

  • Own product requirements for next-generation controller and edge-device platforms, ensuring architecture decisions support feature reuse, scalable deployment, regional requirements, and long-term maintainability.

  • Define product requirements for device management, version governance, release readiness, and over-the-air update capabilities across relevant product lines and connected installed bases.

  • Lead segment strategy and growth planning, market segmentation, competitive positioning, pricing discipline, and value proposition definition across hardware, firmware, connectivity, and software-enabled offerings.

  • Drive NPI execution with clear stage-gate discipline, launch readiness, cross-functional coordination, customer validation, and commercialization ownership from concept through field deployment.

Requirements

  • Strategic planning and value management, including pricing discipline, investment prioritization, and roadmap tradeoff management.

  • Customer relationship management with a strong external commercial orientation and the ability to translate customer needs into product requirements.

  • Product and services management across hardware, firmware, embedded software, connectivity-adjacent software, diagnostics, and service enablement.

  • Domain fluency in edge devices, IoT gateways, embedded controllers, telematics, connected hardware platforms, or industrial equipment software.

  • Familiarity with communication protocols and middleware concepts relevant to connected industrial products, such as CAN, J1939, MQTT, APIs, or equivalent standards.

  • Understanding of OTA update architectures, including firmware-over-the-air and software-over-the-air delivery, release readiness, and field update reliability.

  • Strong analytical capability, structured use of VOC, data-driven insights, market analysis, and installed-base intelligence.

  • Strategic thinking in ambiguous or evolving environments to make clear recommendations, not just options.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Computer Science.

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex software-for-hardware, embedded systems, or connected product portfolios.

  • 5+ years of hands-on product management experience owning a roadmap, defining requirements, building business cases, and driving products from concept through delivery in a B2B or industrial context.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
