POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, reports to the Director of Global Marketing and is responsible for leading, developing and executing AE’s global communication strategy, including public relations, media relations, internal communications, message development, senior leadership communications, and issues/crises.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Public Relations/ Media Strategy/ Earned Coverage
- Works closely with senior leadership to develop communications strategies and activities aligned with business objectives that influence, advance, and protect Advanced Energy’s brand and reputation.
- Enable and support agency pitching by providing clear narrative direction, proof points, spokespeople access, and fast-turn materials.
- Develop and execute earned media strategies across business and relevant trade outlets, setting priorities, storylines, targets, and timing in partnership with our PR agency.
- Develop and execute M & A strategies and activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, journalists, providing timely, strategic responses to media inquiries.
- Review Speaker submissions.
- Crisis Communications
- Develop and maintain crisis communications readiness plans.
- Internal Communications
- Develop and implement internal communications strategies to keep employees informed and engaged and ensure understanding of company priorities and key decisions.
- Lead the Internal Communications Specialist to create, review and deliver best-in-class communications.
- Messaging
- With partners own AE’s corporate messaging from the narrative, messaging pillars, proof points and differentiation, by audience.
- Translate complex information into clear, accurate language.
- Led message development around key milestones/announcements.
- Content Development
- Manage the content development processes and maintain editorial standards across different channels and audiences to ensure consistent messaging.
- Partner across AE to develop compelling stories that amplify our leadership position according to business priorities.
- Oversee HR, Investor, and other websites.
- Build and maintain core comms assets (boilerplate, AE overview, executive bios, etc.).
- ELT Support
- Assist with executive communications, leadership messages and talking points as required.
- Advise the Executive Leadership team on communications opportunities and issues.
- Scripts and records executive fireside chats, town halls, and other communication events.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain analytics to measure effectiveness, identify successes and areas of improvement.
- Compile quarterly reporting on PR and communications performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate and external publications.
- Exceptional editing and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency utilizing internal and external communications channels and managing multiple media sources.
- Influential verbal communicator with strong executive presence.
- Ability to develop 360 communications plans, utilizing both internal and external channels to achieve company goals as tracked by metrics.
- Knowledge of communications tools and channels to engage internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong experience with visual elements of communications; ability to operate equipment (preferred) and produce video to enhance communications.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related fields, including working as a trusted communications advisor with strong understanding of the business functions and operational landscape of the company.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team, including strategy development.
- Experience with B2B is preferred.
- Experience serving as a formal spokesperson or primary media contact for a complex organization.
- Proven ability to lead and develop staff, build collaborative teams, and create a culture of trust and accountability is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a global and/or technical industry.
EDUCATION
- B.S. from an accredited college or university in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field;
- MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
