About the role

The Sr. Manager, Commercial Training will support and deliver innovative training programs and operational initiatives across Agios' Rare Disease Training organization, partnering closely with both Market Access and Commercial teams across multiple rare disease states. This role is an opportunity for someone energized by both sides of the work – the operational backbone that keeps a high-performing field organization launch-ready, and the design and delivery side of learning – while making a meaningful impact for patients living with rare diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Training leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver product, disease state, market access, and skill-based training initiatives across PKD, Thalassemia, and Sickle Cell Disease.
  • Design, develop, deliver, and maintain training programs and assets – including learning materials, facilitator guides, eLearning modules, workshops, job aids, onboarding resources, and learner communications – for Market Access and Commercial Sales teams, with a primary focus on Patient Support Managers, Clinical Nurse Educators, Field Reimbursement Managers, and Payer teams.
  • Facilitate live and virtual training sessions, workshops, new hire onboarding programs, and train-the-trainer initiatives to support learner engagement and field readiness.
  • Lead ongoing learning and development initiatives, curriculum updates, training reinforcement activities, ad hoc training programs, special projects, and continuous improvement of training content and delivery methods across Market Access and Commercial Sales teams.
  • Translate clinical insights and patient experience into training that prepares field teams for more meaningful conversations with HCPs and patient communities.
  • Lead training-related projects and initiatives across Market Access and Commercial Sales teams – managing timelines, deliverables, stakeholder communications, and project tracking end-to-end.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors on the review, development, approval, deployment, and continuous improvement of training programs and learning solutions.
  • Track training participation, learner completion, feedback metrics, and documentation to support reporting, compliance, and effectiveness measurement across the function.
  • Build and scale training processes, knowledge-sharing resources, best practices, and field feedback loops across the department.
  • Drive day-to-day operations of the Rare Disease Training department, ensuring smooth execution of onboarding, training programs, and departmental initiatives.
  • Own end-to-end execution of major training moments – new hire classes, National Sales Meetings, POA meetings, workshops, and training events – including planning, vendor coordination, logistics, materials, attendee communications, and on-site delivery across multiple stakeholders and time zones.
  • Build, scale, and continuously improve operational processes, tracking systems, and reporting tools to drive efficiency, strengthen training execution, and ensure accurate documentation and compliance readiness across the department.
  • Own administration and integrity of the Learning Management System (LMS) – including course assignments, enrollments, completions, reporting, issue resolution, and compliance tracking for field personnel and new hires.
  • Manage the lifecycle of training content within the LMS – uploads, updates, version control, and ongoing accuracy – in alignment with internal processes and approval requirements.
  • Lead the review, approval, archiving, and maintenance lifecycle for training materials in partnership with Compliance, Legal, and Medical Review teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant L&D certification (e.g., ATD, CPLP) preferred.
  • 6-8+ years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry, with rare disease experience strongly preferred.
  • 3-4+ years in Learning and Development / Training, with a preference for candidates who have worked in – or built training for – patient services or market access teams.
  • Proven track record designing learning programs grounded in adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Strong facilitator, comfortable leading both live and virtual training across audiences with varying levels of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), training administration, reporting, and documentation workflows.
  • Experience navigating MLR and promotional review processes (Veeva PromoMats or equivalent) within a regulated commercial environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled at building cross-functional partnerships and aligning stakeholders across Market Access, Sales, Compliance, and Medical.
  • Process-oriented, with a track record of building scalable systems and elevating execution in compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to ~25% for field training, National Sales Meetings, POAs, and workshops.
