Sr. Manager - Capital Projects

This role focuses on scoping, planning, driving, and executing high-priority factory construction, expansion, and startup/qualification projects within the global supply chain organization. The ideal candidate will manage multiple project types, ensuring adherence to commitments, schedules, and budgets while influencing cross-functional teams and third-party contractors.
The position is based in Fremont, CA, and involves managing projects heavily focused on ActiveCopper™ manufacturing across several factories.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end scoping, planning, management, and execution of critical capital factory projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Accountability for overall project schedule, scope, and budget, including generating progress reports.
- Assembling and leading project teams, defining plans, and driving progress within varied project frameworks.
- Cost, time, and resource planning with external vendors, general contractors, and internal engineering managers.
- Assessing project risks and defining countermeasures to mitigate impact.
- Managing capital and operating expenses to budget, monitoring scope or design changes, and driving thorough design reviews.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance through permitting, equipment design/testing, hazardous materials handling, and safety-focused design considerations.
- Partnering globally with the Global Engineering team, Factory Operations Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Program Management, and third-party support.
- Leading cross-functional team meetings, facilitating communication, and addressing bottlenecks or resource balancing issues.
- Mentoring junior project managers and supporting the development of improved internal methods and tools.
Requirements
- BS degree in Engineering or a related applied technical field; PMP certification is a plus.
- 8+ years of capital project management experience in the chemical products industry, including planning, resource negotiation, and leading complex projects concurrently.
- Experience managing factory construction and startup projects.
- Proficiency in standard project management software, tools, and methods.
- Experience with hazardous materials factory buildouts or expansions is desired.
- Extensive knowledge of project management strategies, macro- and micro-scheduling, and operational approaches.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including hazardous materials, air quality permitting, construction permitting, environmental regulations, UL/electrical standards, and fire code.
- Bottom-line oriented, assertive, and resilient team player with strong communication and social skills.
- Critically focused on scope, schedule, and spend adherence.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily domestic, and work outside standard business hours to support global teams.

Pay
The typical base salary range for this position is between $128,636.00 and $192,954.00.
