About the Opportunity

The Sr. Manager, Accounts Payable leads the Accounts Payable function, overseeing the entire payment process to ensure accuracy and timeliness. The role is responsible for strengthening internal controls, driving operational excellence, and partnering with key departments to deliver efficient and compliant AP operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a robust control environment and improving systems and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and manage performance expectations.
  • Foster a service-oriented culture focused on responsiveness and accuracy.
  • Manage team workload and skill development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice and payment processing per policies and SLAs.
  • Manage payment runs and ensure compliance with approvals.
  • Monitor AP aging and resolve outstanding items.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Resolve vendor inquiries and payment disputes promptly.
  • Partner with Finance Systems/IT to optimize AP workflows.
  • Promote electronic payments and reduce manual processes.
  • Support supplier portal adoption and vendor onboarding.
  • Oversee fraud prevention controls such as vendor validation and payment verification.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and approval workflows.
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify and remediate control gaps.
  • Manage AP-related close activities including reconciliations and aging reviews.
  • Provide reporting and insights on AP performance.
  • Collaborate with Treasury on cash flow planning and payment timing.
  • Standardize and document AP processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Over 8 years of progressive Accounts Payable experience with at least 3 years in leadership.
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, P2P workflows, and accounting principles.
  • Experience in a SOX-compliant environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite and AP automation tools like Coupa.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience in high-growth or transforming organizations.
  • Proven record of implementing process or system improvements.
  • Experience leading remote or distributed teams.
