Sr Long Term Disability Claims Specialist

About the role

The Senior Long-Term Disability (LTD) Claims Specialist evaluates long term disability insurance claims, ensuring timely, balanced, and accurate decisions and customer support. This role supports MetLife’s purpose of helping customers build a more confident future.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate LTD claims in accordance with plan provisions, regulatory requirements, and service standards
• Create thorough claim documentation and correspondence, analyzing medical, occupational, financial, and policy information
• Oversee claim evaluations, identifying and reconciling inconsistencies, and resolving escalated customer concerns
• Manage communication with claimants, customers, providers, attorneys, brokers, and family members, delivering clear, timely updates on claim status and determinations
• Coordinate with internal and external partners, including physicians, attorneys, vocational consultants, and CPAs, to obtain and evaluate information for thorough and defensible claim decisions

Requirements

• 3+ years of LTD Insurance Claims experience
• Creative problem-solving abilities and independent judgement with critical thinking and analysis
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with strong customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of STD/FML, state leave laws, worker’s compensation, ERISA, and Social Security

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $58,000- $69,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
