Sr. Liability Claims Adjuster

Steadily is hiring a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster to manage complex and high-exposure claims in a fast-paced, in-office environment based in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City Metro).

Responsibilities

• Handle unrepresented, represented, and litigated property and personal liability claims from start to finish, with occasional assistance on 1st party property claims.
• Establish timely contact with all parties, investigate loss details to determine legal liability, and make definitive, well-documented coverage decisions.
• Draft comprehensive coverage letters, including Reservation of Rights.
• Evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate claims within your established authority, ensuring timely resolution.
• Maintain meticulous claim files that exceed internal/external auditor expectations, including documentation, diary entries, and compliance with Fair Claims practices.
• Deliver best-in-class service by setting clear expectations and providing proactive, timely communication with insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
• Partner with and direct counsel, independent adjusters, and experts to facilitate resolutions.
• Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations, which may require mandatory on-call dates, evenings, and weekend work.
• Request appraisals, estimates, cause & origin reports, and other investigative reports.
• Review estimates and reports, and issue payments as owed under the policy contract.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience adjusting complex liability/casualty claims, including catastrophic bodily injury, 3rd party liability, and litigated general liability files.
• Strong knowledge of litigation navigation and negotiation skills.
• Experience with Homeowners, Condo, and/or Landlord claims is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of standard claims practices, estimating, coverage application, liability investigations, subrogation, SIU, and related processes.
• Bonus: Experience in subrogation, fraud investigation, or property damage estimating.
• Self-driven, resourceful, and able to thrive under intense pressure while managing a large workload.
• Willingness to take on varied tasks and support team needs; "that’s not my job" is not in your mantra.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Hungry to roll up your sleeves and hustle—this is not a traditional 9-5 role.

Qualifications

• Prior leadership experience is a plus.
• AIC and/or ARM certification is a plus.

Pay

$130,000 - $150,000 + Equity

Schedule

Full-time, in-office position based in Overland Park, KS. May require mandatory on-call dates, evenings, and weekend work during surges or catastrophe response.
