Sr. Injury Claims Adjuster

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
• Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
• Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
• Adjust attorney‑involved moderately complex bodily injury claims with demonstrable injuries (e.g., torn meniscus, broken bones, disc herniations) and all associated auto physical damage.
• Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on moderately complex bodily injury claims.
• Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, evaluate, negotiate, and arrive at claim settlement within appropriate authority guidelines.
• Clearly document thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
• Prioritize and manage assigned claims workload, keep members and other parties informed, and provide timely status updates.
• Collaborate with and support team members to resolve issues and identify matters for escalation.
• Partner with or direct vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution.
• Support workload surges and/or catastrophe operations as needed.
• Act as an informal resource for less‑experienced team members.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year of injury adjusting experience.
• 2 years of auto liability claims adjusting experience.
• Deep knowledge of the auto claims contract and application of case law, state laws, and regulations.
• Proficient negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Demonstrated time‑management and decision‑making abilities.
• Proven investigatory, prioritizing, multi‑tasking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficient knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology related to bodily injury claims.
• Ability to exercise sound financial judgment and discretion in handling insurance claims.
• Proficient knowledge of coverage evaluation, loss assessment, and loss reserving.
• Acquisition and maintenance of an insurance adjuster license within 90 days (with designated number of attempts).

Qualifications

• Current Early Settlement experience or at least one year of prior Early Settlement work.
• 2 years handling attorney‑represented third‑party injury claims.
• 4 or more years of auto liability/casualty adjusting experience.
• Ongoing professional development focused on insurance.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $63,590 – $121,530. Actual compensation may vary by location and is based on experience, market data, and performance incentives.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the office. Positions are available in San Antonio, TX; Chesapeake, VA; Tampa, FL; Colorado Springs, CO; and Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available.
