Sr. Landman
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This Position Will Direct Broker team on a daily basis to prepare title updates and reports, secure oil and gas leases, lease modifications, and curative necessary to prepare land for drilling within operations area. Evaluate, negotiate, and prepare lease language with mineral owners for the acquisition of lease contracts and/ or securing rights to the mineral interest. Negotiate, prepare, and execute leasehold acquisitions or trades with various operators. Proactively pursue opportunities to maximize value through acreage trades or other acquisition related transactions of producing and non-producing properties. Work with attorneys in the construction and analysis of purchase and sale agreements as well as trade agreements. Oversee and coordinate leasehold extensions and renewals within operating area. Review title reports and oversee curative efforts to reduce risk associated with ownership and development of the minerals. Analyze lease terms and provisions, and provide direction as necessary to secure amendments. Communicate and present weekly results and status updates to Senior Management.
Qualifications
- Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required): Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. At least five (5) years of Land, Land Title, Leasing, or related experience.
- CORE COMPETENCIES: Good knowledge of Petroleum Land Management principles. Good understanding of Oil & Gas Exploration terms, Land and Legal documents. Able to interpret, research, and examine various contracts and title options. Ability to review and draft advance lease and agreement language. Good negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to reach a favorable outcome and/ or resolve difficult situations. Good conflict management skills, with the ability to operate in a high stress environment in a calm and professional manner. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, etc. and ability to operate standard office equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with management, colleagues, field personnel, landowners, and business contacts. Ability to be detail orientated, self-starting, and to work independently while maintaining goals and tasks. Ability to understand and exhibit ethical behavior and business practices. Ensure own behavior and the behavior of others are consistent with the standards and align with the values of the Company. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and project deadlines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Excludes occasional visitation to the field – reference Travel section. Office Related Job is primarily performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
HOURS / SHIFTS
- Regular business hours.
TRAVEL
- Approximate amount of time: Minimal travel may be required to other locations. Minimal travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximate overnight travel is 15%.
