Sr Joint Venture Accountant

About the role

As a Joint Venture Accountant, you will work under general supervision to conduct and document moderately to complex joint venture accounting projects. The role involves administering and coordinating the WBS (AFE) workflow for expense and capital projects, creating and maintaining expenditure accounting master data (Cost Centers, WBS’s, and JIB Division Orders) within the ERP system, and collaborating with the Operations Accounting team to ensure effective joint venture financial management.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the WBS (AFE) workflow for expense and capital projects in accordance with internal controls, policies, and processes.
• Create and maintain expenditure accounting master data: Cost Centers, WBS’s, and JIB DOIs within the ERP system.
• Collaborate with Operations Accounting team members to gather necessary information for seamless coordination and effective management of joint venture financial processes.
• Apply GAAP accounting principles to tasks such as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and financial data analysis for joint venture-specific activities.
• Apply financial and accounting analysis skills to address challenges in joint venture transactions with a strategic approach.
• Verify financial transactions within the joint venture comply with COPAS standards, ensuring accurate financial representation and transparency.
• Formulate and promote strategic recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the JV Accounting department’s financial operations.
• Adhere to established control procedures to uphold financial integrity and compliance within the joint venture’s accounting framework.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis specific to the joint venture, providing insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, or a related discipline (or commensurate work experience).
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Joint Venture Accounting, Financial Analysis & Reporting, Account Reconciliation, or a related field.
• Industry experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (a plus).
• Proficiency in digital accounting and invoicing systems, ERP systems, and financial reporting standards (FRS).
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS), and Joint Venture Accounting Principles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
