Sr Java Technical Lead

About the role

As a Sr Technical Lead you will act as a thought leader within the department, recommend operational strategies and plans that directly impact results, and influence business decisions made by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategy and roadmap for delivering innovation and automation while analyzing detailed business requirements and specifications for the application.
• Configure internally developed applications and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) applications using programming, scripting, and database languages.
• Plan application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements.
• Maintain relationships with clients while communicating with IT and business management and monitor prompt response and support for technical issues.
• Receive activity and progress reports regarding applications systems analysis and programming sections.
• Lead process improvements, cost reduction efforts, and tool development to improve the software development and support process in a way that reduces complexity, improves service, and reduces cost.
• Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (required).
• 8 years of work experience (required); 10 years (preferred).
• Sedentary work environment.

Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on programming experience in Java and Spring framework working in production environments.
• 5+ years of experience building microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, deployed on AWS or containerized workloads.
• Experience with relational database or NoSQL database technologies including Oracle or MongoDB.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team of developers to deliver high-quality, scalable applications to production.
• Preferred: Experience with front-end development using React or Angular, contributing to full-stack delivery across the user interface and backend services.
• Preferred: Demonstrated ability to research emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives in a structured and risk-aware manner.
• Preferred: Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders to align on goals and timelines, define solution roadmaps, and lead end-to-end delivery.
• Preferred: Application ownership experience.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $147,000/yr – $178,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
