Sr Java Technical Lead

Lead analysis, programming, and configuration of end-user applications or systems software, including both custom development and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products. Act as a thought leader within the department, recommending operational strategies and plans that directly impact business results and influence leadership decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategy and roadmap for delivering innovation and automation while analyzing detailed business requirements and specifications for applications.
• Configure internally developed applications and COTS applications using programming, scripting, and database languages.
• Plan application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities, including correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding enhancements.
• Maintain client relationships, communicate with IT and business management, and ensure prompt response and support for technical issues.
• Receive and review activity and progress reports regarding applications systems analysis and programming.
• Lead process improvements, cost reduction efforts, and tool development to enhance the software development and support process, reducing complexity and improving service.
• Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
• 8 years of work experience (10 years preferred).
• 5+ years of hands-on programming experience in Java and Spring framework in production environments.
• 5+ years of experience building microservices and RESTful APIs using Java, deployed on AWS or containerized workloads.
• Experience with relational database or NoSQL database technologies, including Oracle or MongoDB.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team of developers to deliver high-quality, scalable applications to production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with front-end development using React or Angular, contributing to full-stack delivery across user interfaces and backend services.
• Demonstrated ability to research emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives, integrating innovation into the development process in a structured and risk-aware manner.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders to align on goals and timelines, define solution roadmaps, and lead end-to-end delivery.
• Application ownership experience.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $147,000/yr – $178,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
