About the role
National Indemnity Company is seeking a Senior Finance Business Analyst to serve as a critical liaison between Finance and Technology teams.
Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements related to: Financial close and reconciliation processes, Statutory and GAAP financial reporting, Intercompany, reinsurance, and allocation workflows, Finance controls, audit support, and data lineage.
- Translate accounting and finance requirements into: User stories with clear acceptance criteria, Functional specifications for reports, interfaces, and data solutions, Test cases and user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios supporting control validation and business outcomes.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to: Evaluate upstream and downstream system impacts, Identify data quality issues, process gaps, and control risks, Support production investigations related to financial results and reporting.
- Collaborate with developers, QA teams, and data professionals to ensure solutions meet standards for: Financial accuracy, Data completeness, Regulatory compliance, Auditability and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of related professional experience.
- Experience with data analysis and business systems.
- Proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Office, and data manipulation tools.
- Knowledge of software testing methodologies and procedures.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting Finance or Accounting organizations.
- Direct experience working within an insurance carrier environment (P&C, Life, Health, or Specialty insurance).
- Experience supporting: Statutory (STAT) and/or GAAP reporting, Financial close and reconciliation processes, Intercompany accounting, Reinsurance accounting operations.
- Proven ability to translate accounting and financial reporting requirements into technical solutions and IT deliverables.
- Experience partnering with Controllers, Financial Reporting teams, Accounting Policy groups, Auditors, and other Finance leaders.
