About the role

The Investment Associate supports the investment management clients and Investment Advisors by handling administrative tasks such as setting up files, ordering reports, processing physical stock and bond certificates, and preparing materials for client review meetings. They also formulate recommendations and assist with risk and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares portfolio materials for account review meetings with clients.
  • Retrieves reports from EDS, PIMS, IMS, and PAS systems as requested.
  • Sets up files with account documentation for existing or new clients, including automatic payments, pledging securities, address changes, statement addresses, investment guidelines, fees, etc.
  • Orders reports for portfolio managers or clients as needed.
  • Communicates with clients and portfolio managers on client requests and follows up with client requests.
  • Interacts with partners on a daily basis to receive and communicate information on all aspects of a client relationship or portfolio.
  • Works with the tax area to research discrepancies and oversee adjustments on client accounts regarding tax cost issues.
  • Processes physical stock/bond certificates and completes DTC transfers.
  • Follows up with clients on inquiries via phone or written correspondence.
  • Processes client cash transfer requests, ensuring funds are available and contacting Investment Advisors if necessary.
  • Processes fund trades via CIT or all-in-one bank applications by established deadlines.
  • Reviews and analyzes fee worksheets to ensure appropriate fee calculations.
  • Adheres to National Investment Guidelines, feedback from the REV peer review process, and observes sound risk management practices.
  • Begins to proactively make recommendations to support the Investment Advisors and begins to have a role in client meetings.
  • Demonstrates mastery knowledge of the GDWM tool and can run it in client meetings.
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations, analyzing possible solutions using technical experience and judgment.
  • Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of investment products, services, and terminology, usually obtained through on-the-job training.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience within the financial services industry (1-3 years preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, portfolio managers, and partners.
  • Ability to adhere to National Investment Guidelines and observe sound risk management practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience within the financial services industry.
