About the role
The Senior Interior Designer oversees less tenured designers, supporting buyers and homeowners through the sales process to demonstrate design options and finalize selections. After the sale, they collaborate with the Experience team and homeowners on the final project design and work with the operations team during construction, including paper and frame walks.
Responsibilities
- Act as the design point of contact for prospective buyers or homeowners, reviewing TJH design principles, answering questions, and supporting the sales team to overcome contract obstacles.
- Guide buyers or homeowners through personalization options and upgrades, providing insights to aid decision-making.
- Assist in the final selection process and create the final design using a virtual reality design app.
- Collaborate with sales and purchasing to generate pricing and option approvals for buyers or homeowners.
- Update and maintain design packages for presentation and review.
- Ensure the design studio is organized, samples are managed, and scheduling is maintained.
- Maintain an accurate and current design package library, accounting for new vendors or pricing changes.
- Participate in site visits, including frame walks, vendor installations, and post-installations to improve quality, reduce costs, and shorten cycle times.
- Support Construction Superintendents by responding to Requests for Information (RFI) in real time or researching answers promptly.
- Oversee exterior color board materials to ensure visually appealing curb value and adjust for strong first impressions.
- Communicate with buyers or homeowners during the interior design process to manage expectations.
- Notify the purchasing department of design changes as selections are finalized.
- Guide homebuyers to make timely decisions and maintain documentation of signoffs.
- Evaluate completed spec homes for design opportunities in function, trends, quality, and visual appeal.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field.
- 2-4 years’ experience in interior design.
- Previous experience in residential construction preferred.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD in conjunction with the REVEAL system.
