Sr. Instrument and Embedded Specialist
Responsibilities
- Mechanical & Packaging Design: Utilize SolidWorks to design robust enclosures for severe industrial environments. Select appropriate materials (plastics, epoxies) and adhesives based on physical properties and environmental hazards.
- Hardware & Firmware Development: Execute mixed-signal circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded firmware development (ESP32, RTOS, C/C++).
- Rapid Prototyping & Iteration: Take ownership of the initial design phase utilizing in-house rapid prototyping (MJF/FDM 3D printing) to accelerate the validation cycle and align stakeholder vision before scaling to external vendors.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Proactively collaborate with manufacturing engineers, product owners, and end-users to distill complex field observations into clear, actionable technical requirements.
- Validation & Field Testing: Write comprehensive test plans from scratch, design and implement physical test jigs, and occasionally travel to active mine sites to conduct on-site validation of sensor reliability.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain high standards of design documentation to ensure system continuity, traceability, and seamless handoffs.
- Strategic Execution: Demonstrate strong engineering judgment in balancing rigorous technical standards with practical, time-to-market business requirements to consistently meet deployment schedules.
- Design, prototype, and deploy ruggedized sensor systems for heavy industrial environments.
Requirements
- Physics & First Principles: Deep understanding of applied physics, including force, magnitude, and material properties.
- RF & Mixed Signal: Working knowledge of ray tracing for antennas and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Manufacturing: Practical experience with 3D printing fundamentals and rapid prototyping.
- Testing: Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, write, and execute effective physical and electrical test plans.
- Demonstrated history of driving technical strategy autonomously as a sole contributor.
- Advanced capability in designing complex physical test jigs for severe environmental hazards.
