Alexa Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites for global broadband connectivity. Join us at Amazon! As a Sr. Hardware Design Engineer, you will collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to design innovative product solutions. You will work closely with colleagues across the Leo team to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and optimization. You must be responsive, flexible, and capable of succeeding in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for designing RF subsystems for use in space. You must be able to work effectively cross-functionally with multiple disciplines.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to engage with diverse engineering disciplines, effectively advocate for hardware system requirements, board bring-up, PCBA assembly, and ensure alignment for overall system success.
- Work closely with the production test team to define DVT, Qualification, and production test requirements.
- Develop, design, and test ASIC and subsystems and systems.
- Derive HW specifications for the KMM system.
- Perform root cause analysis on products, technical problems, processes, and documentation.
- Assess feasibility of various designs in support of architectural definition.
- Participate in subsystem design and prototyping, schematic capture, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization.
- Evaluate and characterize new technology, prototypes, and RF components.
- Support manufacturing engineers on production testing of RF avionics components and systems.
- Evaluate systems and direct design modifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair circuits and fixtures.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability.
- Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup, and circuit board layout.
- 5+ years of experience in firmware integration with factory software.
Prioritization
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum due to applicable export control laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
