The Broadband Plasma Division (BBP) provides market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leading-edge IC manufacturing. Logic, foundry, and memory customers depend on BBP products to detect yield-critical defects for process debug and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes.

About the role

KLA is seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. FPGA Engineer to join our electrical engineering team. The role involves architecting and implementing FPGA/digital designs for an innovative E-beam inspection system. Our designs employ an innovative combination of low-noise analog and highly complex digital signal circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Design test benches for simulation, timing analysis/closure, and FPGA functionality verification
  • Design, implement, and debug FPGAs and firmware for advanced E-Beam systems
  • Collaborate with hardware and embedded software engineers to design FPGA firmware for high-performance mixed-signal designs
  • Define FPGA firmware requirement specifications and develop design projects from concept to production release
  • Understand and gather project specifications and performance requirements at board and system levels; adhere to project timelines and deliverables
  • Write technical documentation that meets defined quality standards
  • Work with other engineering groups (ME, OE, SW, systems, and manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration and test at subsystem and system levels

Qualifications

  • Experience with complex FPGA firmware designs
  • Experience with Xilinx (preferred) or Intel/Altera FPGAs
  • Proficiency in FPGA simulation tools such as VCS, Modelsim, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in FPGA design tools such as Vivado or equivalent
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages such as Verilog or System Verilog
  • Understanding of FPGA timing analysis and ability to solve timing-related issues
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Solid knowledge of protocols to interface different peripherals: PCIe, Aurora, DDR4, 10G, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Knowledge of networking and embedded Linux build systems
  • Self-motivated, independent, and effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with experienced engineering teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or
  • Master’s Degree and 6 years of related work experience, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related work experience

Pay

Base pay range: $141,300.00 - $240,200.00 annually.
