On-siteEngineering$145k–$203k/yrFull-time

About the role

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As a Level 4 Fluids Engineer, you will develop, test, and implement fluid systems for aerospace projects. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and test fluid systems including pneumatic, cryogenic, thermal, and environmental control systems.
  • Develop and validate models of fluid systems using relevant software tools.
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data to understand system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fluid systems into aerospace vehicles.
  • Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Four-year aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline).
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Solid modelling or plant modelling, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and configuration control of engineering and documentation.
  • Experience understanding fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, welding, etc.).
  • Experience using analysis tools specific to piping (such as: CAEPipe, Bentley AutoPipe, CEASAR, AFT Fathom/Arrow, Sinda Fluint, Simulink, etc.).
  • Knowledge of typical use, constraints, and specification of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams composed of multiple roles and disciplines to achieve a common goal.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and/or piping systems.
  • Experience with creating process hazards analyses, job hazards analysis, and formal risk evaluation.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3.
  • Experience with design and operation of typical aerospace fuel, oxidizer, and high-pressure pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with design, operations, and maintenance of cryogenic systems.
  • Knowledge of precision cleaning processes/levels and passivation of stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of marine environment corrosion mitigation (material and coatings selection).
  • Familiarity with test equipment, such as multimeters, dew point meters, vacuum equipment, regulator panels.
  • Master or PhD in Aerospace, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Pay

Base pay range for WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20. Other site ranges may differ.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Basic and supplemental life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Short and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%.
