About the role
BWC’s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and coordinates outside investment manager trade communication with the custodial bank and master record keeper.
- Reviews daily investment manager bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timeliness and works with outside parties to resolve reconciling items.
- Designs and prepares ad hoc financial investment accounting reports and conducts special projects.
- Maintains compliance with BWC’s Investment Policy and the contract the investment manager was hired to manage.
- Maintains professional working relationships, adheres to defined production schedules, utilizes strong critical thinking skills to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, resolve issues, and develop well-supported conclusions.
Requirements
- 42 months of experience or 42 months target in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- Completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 months of experience or 18 months target in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- Completion of a graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 months of experience or 6 months target in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- 12 months of experience as Financial Analyst, 66562.
- Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
Job Skills
- Knowledge of BWC policies & procedures*
- Knowledge of cost & financial accounting*
- Knowledge of applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, procedures & standards governing fiscal accounting & budgetary operations*
- Knowledge of BWC Financial Reporting policies & procedures*
- Knowledge of investment accounting &/or finance (e.g., Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Governmental Accounting)
- Knowledge of compliance requirements for investment portfolios, asset classes & individual manager portfolios*
- Knowledge of trade communications
- Knowledge of accounting information systems*
- Knowledge of investment information available from the master record keeper (BNY Mellon) & custodial bank
- Knowledge of performance calculations in compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards
- Skills in use of calculator, use of personal computer & peripheral equipment (e.g., printer, keyboard), use of MS Office Software (e.g., Word, Access, Outlook), use of MS Excel
- Skills in communicating, both verbally & in writing to various levels within the organization
- Ability to read, interpret & analyze technical financial materials, recommend any accounting & reporting changes as needed & as required*, deal with complex & technical fiscal variables*, gather, collate, classify information about data, coordinate reconciliation between financial parties & maintain professional verbal & written communications with bank, master record keeper, & outside investment managers, prepare complex financial accounting reports*, prepare &/or edit technical fiscal material*, prepare meaningful, accurate & concise reports to include accurate recommendations, use proper research methods to gather data
