Sr. Finance Renewals & Retention Manager
About the role
Own the finance and analytics leadership for a multi-billion-dollar renewals business — one of the most important drivers of durable growth in CrowdStrike's SaaS business. Joining a fast-paced GTM Finance team, you'll be the subject matter expert for all things renewals: forecasting, reporting, and churn and contraction analysis, building the models and analyses that inform decisions by CrowdStrike's senior management team and support the company-wide planning process. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role for someone who has already supported or managed a renewals business and wants to own a business, not just report on it. We're looking for a deeply analytical finance professional who uses AI and modern data tooling to work faster and go deeper than a traditional finance role allows, partnering daily with Sales Operations, field and Renewals sales leaders, Deal Desk, Corporate Finance, and Data & Analytics team.
What you'll do
- Own the renewals forecast — bottoms-up weekly, quarterly, and annual forecast covering subject-to-renew (STR), on-time renewal rates, price uplift, expansion, and churn/contraction. Reconcile to Corp FP&A's ARR and revenue plan; explain variances with quantified drivers.
- Drive retention analytics & success metrics — own GRR, NRR, and logo retention reporting. Identify risk and whitespace across geo/theater, segment, channel/route-to-market, industry/vertical, product, cohort, tenure, and contract term.
- Diagnose churn and contraction — partner with Sales Operations and Data & Analytics to build a rigorous reason-code taxonomy (budget cuts, M&A, competitive loss, low utilization, product gaps, sponsor change, right-sizing), validate data quality, build early-warning signals, and quantify at-risk ARR.
- Apply AI to scale your impact — use AI/LLM tools and predictive techniques to accelerate analysis, mine unstructured inputs (renewal notes, CRM commentary, support and win/loss data) for churn signal, build propensity-to-renew and at-risk scoring, and automate recurring reporting and variance commentary.
- Turn insight into action — size the addressable portion of churn, recommend targeted retention plays with expected ARR recovery, and measure realized impact.
- Business partner — pressure-test pipeline coverage and capacity assumptions with sales leaders; support Deal Desk on complex renewal structures, pricing, uplift, and multi-year/co-term strategy; provide inputs to renewals quota and comp design.
What you'll need
- 12+ years in FP&A, GTM/Sales Finance, Strategic Finance, banking, or consulting.
- Proven SaaS/subscription experience with direct, hands-on ownership of a renewals book — forecasting STR, driving renewal rates and uplift, and partnering with a Renewals or field sales organization on a recurring cadence.
- Deep fluency in ARR, STR, GRR/NRR, churn and contraction, expansion, multi-year and co-term dynamics, bookings-to-revenue bridges, and deferred revenue/RPO.
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills — able to structure ambiguous problems independently, work with large and imperfect datasets, and reach a defensible conclusion without a template. Advanced Excel/Sheets modeling and SQL required; Python a plus.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve analytical output and productivity (LLM-assisted analysis, code/SQL generation, summarization of unstructured data, reporting automation), with sound judgment on validation, data governance, and where not to rely on AI.
- Track record of forecast accuracy and credibility with senior sales leadership; strong ability to influence without authority and communicate complex analysis as a clear executive recommendation.
- Hands-on with Salesforce/CPQ and one or more of Clari, Anaplan/Pigment, Tableau/Power BI/Looker, Snowflake/Databricks.
- Bachelor's in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
