Sr. Expeditor
Relocation not authorized. This position is part-time telework and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the Houston, TX office or project site.

In this role, you will participate in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor assignments, evaluate production schedules and progress, and develop procedures. Your planning and problem solving will ensure expediting operations meet project needs.
Project Overview
Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. M&T serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets, striving to exceed customer objectives through agility, innovative technologies, and world-class talent.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations for small-sized projects.
- Distributes workload to assigned project expeditors based on experience, complexity, and urgency.
- Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data and follow up on material acquisition, production progress, and shipment.
- Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to ensure they meet jobsite requirements.
- Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators, jobsite project expeditors, and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates.
- Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
- Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates.
- Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in the administration and expediting of purchase orders.
- Experience in procurement, including supplier communication, prequalification, knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation, negotiation of terms, and award of commitments.
- Proficiency in administering commitments, monitoring supplier performance, back-charge procedures, and resolving claims and disputes.
- Solid understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with other project functional groups.
- Ability to provide early warning of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage to Project Management.
- Capability to interpret schedules to ensure they are realistic and maintain interface between activities.
