Sr Equipment Maintenance Technician

About the role

This role involves supporting the production floor by conducting preventive maintenance and performing advanced repairs on equipment, fixtures, and systems (including mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and automation). You will evaluate, recommend, and implement equipment enhancements to improve availability, capability, and yield, as well as perform equipment failure analyses and troubleshoot root causes of issues.

Responsibilities

• Prepares new machines for operation by following established protocols and performs regular technical testing to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Conducts preventative, predictive, and reliability maintenance checks on high-energy systems or those requiring specific skills or training.
• Troubleshoots and repairs advanced pressure, acoustic, electrical, signal, electromechanical, mechanical, pneumatic, network, software, and automation systems.
• Coordinates with other departments to document root cause analysis and executes A-3 or other root cause solving processes to address recurring issues.
• Performs specialized equipment and high-accuracy requirement calibrations.
• Implements new equipment and parts into existing systems to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Generates non-production work orders in the CMMS to address equipment, tooling, and test system defects, replacing parts and consumables as needed.
• Completes assigned work orders in the CMMS, including equipment assembly, installation, inspections, and calibration.
• Tracks daily work through completion of work orders within CMMS.
• Provides recommendations for PM periodicity changes based on usage and previous calibration data.
• Prioritizes response to production requests for equipment trouble calls.
• Initiates drawing and procedural changes in Agile.
• Assists process automation engineers and tool design groups with generating and debugging machine programs on the line.
• Builds new test systems and production equipment from engineering drawings.
• Optimizes balance between equipment use and settings for maximum efficiency.
• Provides point-to-point verification on new equipment and fixturing.
• Mentors and trains junior technicians.

Requirements

• 2-year degree from an accredited university or vocational school in Electrical, Mechanical, or an Engineering-related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of technical experience.
• Knowledgeable in Electrostatic Discharge Protection (ESD) practices, including setup and verification of Electrostatic Protection Areas.
• Familiarity with reading and manipulating multiple data formats.
• Understanding of NFPA 70, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ANSI S20.20, and WHMA A-620.
• Ability to read, understand, and develop electrical and mechanical schematics for diagnosis and repair.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office Suite, CMMS, Agile, and Aegis.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Travel/Physical Requirements

• 0-10% travel.
• This role operates in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing environment, with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
• Occasional exposure to extreme conditions in the plant, with loud noise levels possible.
• Frequent sitting, standing, talking, and communicating; use of hands/fingers to feel and reach with arms.
• Ability to lift, bend, or stoop as necessary up to 40 lbs.
