Sr. Environmental Scientist - Remediation Focus
About the role
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Remediation group in Denver, CO. This position is fully remote. We are seeking a candidate who is an excellent communicator and technically capable, with an awareness of relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
- Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
- Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
- Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques.
- Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
- Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Works under general supervision.
- Flexible with working extended hours and locations, travel may be greater than 50 percent of time. Must be able to do day travel regionally.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences or engineering or other related fields, AND 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- Valid driver's license.
- Subject to a pre-employment Background check.
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- Due to some of the sites, US Citizenship or a permanent resident is required.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike.
- Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
- Scientific research and report writing (including web based research).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong quality and time management.
- Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
- Seeking professional certifications. 40hr OSHA HAZWOPER certificate.
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS applications.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $90000 to $130000 per year.
