About the role

The Senior EHSS Engineer will manage health, safety, and environmental compliance, develop and lead safety improvement plans, conduct root cause analyses, and support compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage health, safety, and environmental compliance, including permitting, reporting, inspections, and monitoring KPIs and behavioral patterns.
  • Maintain EHSS policies, train staff, conduct audits, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and drive ongoing improvements in EHSS programs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, identify corrective and preventative actions, and track them through to full completion.
  • Support compliance programs and regulatory interactions, and maintain visibility into emerging regulatory issues or changes.
  • Develop metrics, prepare data and analytics reports, conduct research using primary sources, and advise managers on performance trends and areas of need.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated individual with strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to revamp the company safety program and influence the entire organization to lead & implement it.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in health & safety, environmental, engineering, or technical field with seven or more years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ethical drive, and desire to support best in class EHSS.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), demonstrated knowledge of computer skills, professional attitude, and ability to interact and work successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Successful development and implementation of prior safety improvement programs.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence at all levels throughout organizations.
  • Experience with permitting procedures, auditing, and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience with OSHA and Industrial Hygiene required; familiarity with environmental regulations a plus.
  • Competencies and ability to be promoted to EHSS Manager or serve as fill-in as necessary.
  • Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license, or the ability to obtain such licenses, are a plus but not required.
