About the Role

At RTX, the world’s largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to solve the world’s most complex problems. Pratt & Whitney, a leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Military Development Fan/LPC Design team as a Rotors design lead. This role offers the opportunity to drive design improvements, address technical issues, support production ramp, and collaborate across disciplines. Prior experience in Fan/LPC and/or HPC Rotor or IBR Design is preferred, with PROD QN support experience ideal but not required.

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) is responsible for the design, development, and in-service support of all fans, low-pressure, and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models, as well as the maturation of new technologies for these products. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

Responsibilities

  • Support a Commercial engine throughout the mature production phase, addressing Module-level and Part-level questions for Fan and LPC hardware (e.g., cases, frames, IBRs, bypass ducts, kinematics).
  • Support the existing PW1500G and PW1900G fleet through production support, development engine build support, fleet support, and hardware redesign.
  • Identify areas to expand tolerances, improve part producibility, support manufacturing processes with vendors, and execute Engineering changes (primarily Class II, Must Conform, and Production Alteration types).
  • Support Production and development Quality Notifications, including creating PPT packages, executing non-conformance analysis, collaborating with disciplines to determine acceptability, disposition, documentation, and QN closure.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience OR an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
  • U.S. citizenship is required (Naturalized or Dual Citizens may apply but will require approval from the Program Office).

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with engineering standard work and Engineering Change Processes (e.g., Class II, Must Conform).
  • Proficiency in Teamcenter, NX, Tol Stacking, and Blueprints.
  • Quality Notification support experience and SAP proficiency.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Benefits

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Flexible spending accounts and flexible work schedules.
  • Employee assistance program and Employee Scholar Program.
