Sr. Employee Relations Specialist

About the role
The Senior ER Specialist will promote a positive, fair, and compliant workplace environment. They will manage and resolve complex employee relations cases, conduct investigations, and ensure alignment with company policies, external regulations, and core values. The role partners cross-functionally with HR, Legal, and senior leadership to address employee concerns, support performance management, and foster an inclusive culture. The Senior ER Specialist will recommend changes to the progressive discipline process and other related policies, using data to report on trends and inform training for leaders.
Responsibilities
- Investigate workplace issues and concerns raised by associates, including disputes, allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other potential violations of company policies.
- Exhibit sound judgment in recommending outcomes for investigations, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Partner with HR, Labor Relations, the Office of the General Counsel, and outside counsel on cases involving both union-represented and salaried employees.
- Prepare, track, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the investigation process, developing and implementing comprehensive investigation plans to drive timely case closure.
- Manage sensitive employee data and statements with utmost confidentiality.
- Draft clear and concise investigation reports and maintain meticulous documentation.
- Craft corrective actions, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and termination summaries, partnering with leaders for creation and storage of these documents.
- Travel as necessary to support complex investigations (up to 25% of the time).
- Provide quarterly updates to HR and company leaders on ER trends.
- Collaborate with HR Data Analytics to develop and maintain an ER dashboard.
- Partner with the HRBP team and Learning Team to recommend and deliver employee relations-related trainings.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in training development and delivery.
Requirements
- Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or Business. Advanced (Master) Degree in Human Resources and/or Labor Relations preferred.
- 5-7 years of HR Generalist experience required.
- 3-4 years of employee relations, investigations, and corrective action experience required.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
- 8-10 years of relative work experience could offset minimum educational requirements.

Pay
$76,200 - 106,680 annually

Schedule
The Cleveland corporate office follows a hybrid work model that requires employees to be in the corporate office at least four days per week.
