About the role

The Emergency Trauma Technician provides ancillary support to both the nursing and medical staff within the Emergency Department. The Trauma Technician performs ECGs, wound irrigations, wound preparation/bandaging, CPR, inventory and secure patient valuables, patient transports, assist and obtain vital signs, track and monitor equipment maintenance, inventory and order supplies, assist in equipment set-up, and assist in other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical care to patients
  • Performs selected procedures
  • Performs front desk duties
  • Maintains certifications, participates in staff meetings, and completes orientation/training

Requirements

  • License and/or certification as required (American Heart Association BLS, CPT, MA, CNA, EMT, Paramedic)
  • At least two (2) years recent experience as EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant with certified phlebotomy technician license (CPT)
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure
  • Familiarity with principles of asepsis and hand hygiene
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Skills and knowledge to work with all department equipment, tools, and supplies
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of patients appropriately
  • Ability to communicate concisely to all co-workers and patients

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized phlebotomy program
  • Completion of a recognized medical assistant program
  • Completion of a recognized emergency medical technician (EMT) or paramedic program

  • Technical skills related to ECGs, wound irrigation, bandaging, CPR, inventory management, and equipment operation

Pay

$29.32 - $36.47 per hour

Schedule

6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m., 3 shifts per week, 12 hour shifts
