About the Role
The Sr. Electronics Technician will serve as a maintenance technician at the Naval Consolidated BRIG (Prison) in Charleston, SC. This position involves normal shift hours with 24/7 on-call duties for emergency maintenance actions. This opportunity is contingent upon a potential contract award.
Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals and engineering drawings.
- Program and troubleshoot HP Aruba Network Switches, Windows 11, and Windows Server systems.
- Maintain compliance with safety, security, property, material management, time, and attendance policies.
- Operate and troubleshoot Milestone Video systems, Stentofon Intercom Systems, Aviva Wonderware HMI software, PLC hardware, and electronic door locks.
- Stay current on procedures, policies, instructions, technical orders, and manufacturer’s manuals, including the National Electric Code and engineering handbooks.
- Follow established safety procedures and use protective equipment and clothing relevant to the trade.
- Perform conduit work and other electrical tasks (experience in these areas is a plus).
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience fabricating, assembling, installing, modifying, and troubleshooting electronic equipment.
- Proficiency in reading wiring schematics.
- Experience with soldering, printed circuit boards, and power supplies.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance procedures.
- Experience using power tools, drills, and saws.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical hand tools.
- Experience with fiber optic and copper communications installation and termination.
- Experience with exterior electrical/communications conduit installation to power panels and junction boxes.
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills to professionally engage with diverse individuals in varied situations.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required pursuant to the Government Contract.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
- Previous maintenance experience at a military, federal, state, or county prison is a plus.
- Ability to stand for full shifts during assigned tasks.
Pay
$38.46 to $57.69 hourly.
