About the Role
This position is for a Sr. Electronics Technician at the Naval Consolidated BRIG (Prison) in Chesapeake, VA. The role involves both normal shift hours and on-call duties for 24/7 emergency maintenance. This opportunity is contingent upon a potential contract award.
Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals and engineering drawings.
- Work with HP Aruba Network Switch programming, Windows 11, and Windows Server setup and troubleshooting.
- Maintain compliance with safety, security, property, material management, time, and attendance policies.
- Operate and troubleshoot Milestone Video systems, Stentofon Intercom Systems, Aviva Wonderware HMI software, PLC hardware, and electronic door locks.
- Stay current on procedures, policies, instructions, technical orders, and manufacturer’s manuals.
- Follow established safety procedures and use protective equipment and clothing.
- Perform conduit work and other electrician-related tasks as needed.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience fabricating, assembling, installing, modifying, and troubleshooting electronic equipment.
- Proficiency in reading wiring schematics.
- Experience with soldering practices, printed circuit boards, and power supplies.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance procedures.
- Experience using power tools, drills, and saws.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical hand tools.
- Experience with fiber optic and copper communications installation and termination.
- Experience with exterior electrical/communications conduit installation to power panels and junction boxes.
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal professionally and courteously with diverse individuals.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to Government Contract.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Previous maintenance experience at a military, federal, state, or county prison is a plus.
- Conduit and electrician experience is a plus.
Pay
$38.46 to $57.69 hourly.
