Sr. Electrical Engineer, Data Center Engineering
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

Responsibilities
- Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, drawings, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports.
- Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Electrical Basis of Design (BoD) by driving standardization in data center electrical designs.
- Develop strategic solutions that meet or exceed quality requirements and fall within budgetary constraints.
- Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well-defined, achievable, and testable specifications and solutions.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during innovation and research and development projects.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment.
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
A typical day may include analyzing energy efficiency data, collaborating on cooling solutions, mentoring fellow engineers, participating in design reviews, engaging with vendors, and contributing to sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
- Detailed understanding of uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Familiarity with medium voltage distribution systems design.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is:
- USA, TX, Austin: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
- USA, VA, Herndon: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
- USA, WA, Seattle: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
