Responsibilities
- Create detailed and accurate electrical designs and drawing packages, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project specifications
- Use SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical to develop schematics, layouts, and documentation
- Create manufacturing drawings that accurately dimension and notify spatial relationships as well as contain complete bills of materials
- Create drawings from partially complete engineering department sketches, equipment lists, kickoff meetings, as well as past project knowledge/drawings
- Perform assembly and construction visits to verify adherence to design and record changes
- Work with the production floor to develop accurate depictions of equipment and material
- Recognize special relationships that are required within control panels
- Create 2D CAD layouts of electrical enclosures
- Create point-to-point wiring diagrams of large industrial systems used to manufacture industrial facilities
- Follow a deliverables schedule to fuel the shop floor with manufacturing drawings on time to meet deadlines
- Perform basic quality checks on drawings developed by other Designers / CAD Drafters
- Assist in the development of panel layouts in 2D drawings from sketches provided by engineers and senior design staff
- Assist in the preparation of panel details for quote/bid
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Associate's or higher degree in computer-Aided Drafting, Applied Science, or related technical education is preferred
- 3-5+ years’ experience in conduit schedules & layout work, cable tray schedules & layout work, schematics, power one-lines, field verification and auditing experience
- SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical experience required
- Knowledge of electrical control schematics and wiring diagrams for motor controls, and process control
- Familiarity with design/layout of PLC Panels, enclosures, logic and I/O components, wiring, wiring duct, HMIs, wiring, terminal blocks, and other equipment
- Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies in a panel layout and/or schematic drawing with help from upper management
- Engineering, manufacturing, and/or oil and gas experience is strongly preferred
- Microsoft Windows-based program proficiency is required
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts
