Sr. Designer, Electrical
About the role
As a member of the CECO Environmental team, you will be responsible for the engineering and design of custom engineered industrial OEM panels and equipment within the Emissions Platform. You will develop the complete technical design of electrical panels, including junction boxes, heater control panels, PLCs, motor starter panels, variable frequency drives, and general motor controls. You will also generate engineering drawings such as panel external layout drawings, back panel internal layout drawings, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and supplementary engineering deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Develop the complete technical design of electrical panels, including junction boxes, heater control panels, PLCs, motor starter panels, variable frequency drives, and general motor controls.
- Generate the following engineering drawings related to panel design: panel external layout drawings, back panel internal layout drawings, wiring diagrams.
- Understand and generate logic diagrams, specifically SAMA process control logic diagrams and Boolean ladder logic diagrams.
- Understand and generate P&I diagrams and translate them into panel designs, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams.
- Incorporate customer specifications and requirements into equipment design.
- Generate one-line diagrams, cause and effect tables, cable schedules, conduit and routing plans (heat tracing, area lighting, and HVAC sizing for panels is a plus).
- Provide technical support for fabricators during the fabrication of equipment.
- Perform inspection of equipment (including factory acceptance test) at fabricators' shop.
- Communicate directly with customers, suppliers, fabricators, and sales.
Requirements
- Five (5) years minimum experience designing electrical systems for industrial applications (residential or commercial not applicable).
- Experience designing control panels based on relay or PLC / DCS control.
- Knowledge of plant process control and monitoring is a plus.
- Licenses or certifications (e.g., UL-508A, NEC) are a plus.
