About the role

The Sr. Director, Technical Program Management (Associate Experience Tech) leads programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to execute on key strategic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical programs and build large scale products & platforms
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to execute on key strategic programs
  • Pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team
  • Build and lead a world-class team of technical program managers
  • Provide valuable insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with large cross-functional teams to secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams
  • Build and lead the foundations for the TPM practice
  • Drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
  • Execute, follow-through, and drive results
  • Collaborate across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries
  • Show high emotional intelligence, be a good listener, and demonstrate empathy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 9 years of experience managing technical programs

Qualifications

  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services)
  • Experience building and leading a world-class team of technical program managers
  • Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
  • Experienced TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs
  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions
  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
  • Exceptional cross-team collaboration
  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $269,600 - $307,700 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
